The Tokyo Ghoul anime is a bumpy road to say the least. It has the problem of skipping/rushing things from the manga. A good amount of people agree the first season is good/decent, however season 2/Root A is considered bad by a lot of people. Tokyo Ghoul: Re (season 3) is still airing, but reception has been mixed (from what I've seen at least ...
I need recommendations for anime that are similar to Tokyo Ghoul. Hi LeBlearable, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch! The users of this subreddit came up with a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans and an awesome longer flowchart. Maybe you can find something there that you'll like ^.^.
Ajin. Chainsaw man. Devilman. Devilman Crybaby, but it’s a lot heavier than Tokyo Ghoul. Or Chainsaw Man, which is also a lot heavier. They’re both about former humans becoming half-devils. Parasyte gets the most direct comparisons. JJK is also kinda similar.
The anime gives nobody any personality and then diverts from the manga in the second season before returning to the manga storyline in Tokyo Ghoul RE and then just acting like the second season never happened.
In my opinion, the season 1 of tokyo ghoul anime is more entertaining than the equivalent manga chapters (a few details left out in the anime, but has better dialogue than the manga imo). But of course the manga has more depth of story, just personally found the anime more enjoyable.
Tokyo Ghoul Stage Play (2015 and 2017) - Adapt events from the first 6 episodes of the first season of the anime, with content cut and rearranged. Where can I read the manga?
Tokyo Ghoul:re - The sequel manga, continues the story of the original with 179 chapters (16 volumes) + chapter 31.5 in volume 4. Tokyo Ghoul Oneshot - A non-canon prototype chapter. School of Ghoul - A non-canon parody of Tokyo Ghoul by the manga author, featuring the characters going to school together. Novels - Part of the manga's continuity.
Hi there! If you’re aware of Fullmetal Alchemist & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood- that is a the situation the Tokyo Ghoul finds itself in. The anime that is out is a chewed up version of the manga source material, and while there are obvious similarities- it is a different story, I won’t say entirely, but definitely mostly so.
Tokyo Ghoul anime came in 2014. AoT and DW have MCs who are weak in the beginning and there is a whole lot of suffering/emotion along the way. I had these two anime already watched to compare, so I didn't feel like Tokyo Ghoul MC was portrayed to the best it could have. Also, the TG sakuga was lackluster.
Tokyo Ghoul is the best anime I have ever seen in my entire life. It’s about a world where ghouls and humans live among each other, but ghouls need to eat humans to survive, though they look exactly like humans.
